BBQ Ranch Chicken Crust Pizza

BBQ Ranch Chicken Crust Pizza is the ultimate recipe for extra protein and low carb pizza night! Ground chicken makes the ideal substitute for bread while maintaining the flavor of a favorite pizza pie recipe. Get ready for pizza and wing night in your house! No surprise that it heats up well as leftovers for lunch!

A vegetable crust is also a fan favorite in our house hold. We love vegetables, however we wanted a pizza that made a traditional pizza into a healthy protein packed dinner. With ground chicken in our refrigerator, BBQ Ranch Chicken Crust Pizza seemed like the logical way to have our cake and eat it to!

What You Need:

  • Ground Chicken Burger
  • Garlic Powder
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Sweet Baby Rays
  • Ranch Dressing
  • Spinach
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Mozzarella Cheese
  • Purple Onions
  • Large Pizza Pan

When making this pizza I used Sweet Baby Rays BBQ. My husband doesn’t allow anything else. Instead of a full fat Ranch dressing, opt to choose the low-fat. That is what I did.  We used Chedder and Mozzarella cheese for this recipe, but if you are lactose intolerant, keep reading for my favorite substitutes.

First, add the ground chicken to a mixing bowl and combine with garlic, salt and pepper. Once combined, on a well greased pizza pan, spread the ground chicken about a 1/2 inch thick. If you prefer a thick or thin crust, spread to preference. Adjust cooking time to crust depending thickness of crust. Bake crust for 15 minutes. The crust will be comparable to a hand tossed crispy crust. I used our cast iron pizza pan. Cast Iron heats evenly, creating a perfect crust.

Second, once crust is cooked, add the BBQ and Ranch sauce. Spread BBQ over the entire crust. Next drizzle with ranch. I do not have an amazing steady hand so I had some ranch clumps. We are all human here!

Third, sprinkle with Mozzarella for the base then Cheddar cheese. Next, add spinach and purple onions. Add as much or as little as your like. Return the pizza to the oven.

Lastly, bake on 350 for 10 more minutes. This last 10 minutes crisps the crust and gives that gooey melt cheese.

Slice and Enjoy!

Substitutions

My favorite healthier pizza but let’s talk what you can substitute to better suite your taste buds or needs.

Ranch is a fan favorite but you can swap it out with Primal Kitchen Ranch Dressing if you are sensitive to lactose. You can even order online! If you are a Blue Cheese person rather than Ranch, use it! It will be delicious!

What if I am lactose intolerant? The Mozzarella cheese and Cheddar cheese can be substituted for a vegan cheese. My favorite is made by Daiya Foods. They have so many shred options, you can choose your favorite!

What if BBQ Ranch isn’t your style of pizza? There is also Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Just simple swap the BBQ for hot sauce. I suggest taking it a little easy on the hot sauce, but to each their own!

Lastly, swap out any vegetables you don’t like with what you do! Pizza doesn’t dictate what you can put on it! Trust me, I am a ham and pineapple girl. Add as many as you want, the more vegetables, the more nutrition!

Leftovers for Lunch

This working girl, loves pizza. This pizza made the most delicious, healthy lunch for me! It heats up so well. If your office offers a toaster oven, I suggest using it. That will heat the pizza without making the crust tough. If you must use the microwave, be sure to not overheat. That will make the crust tough. It will still taste great though!

Ingredients

  • 1 Lb Ground Chicken
  • 2 tbsp Garlic Powder
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Red Onions
  • Spinach
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Mozzerella Cheese

Instructions

  • Pre-Heat oven to 350 degrees
  • Combine ground chicken, garlic, salt and pepper together in a bowl. 
  • Spread chicken onto greased pizza pan. Make the crust as thick as you want. Just adjust the cooking time. If thinner- cook less. If thick- cook longer 
  • Bake for 15 minutes then remove from oven and spread BBQ all over crust, drizzle with ranch, then cover with cheese, onions, and spinach. Bake for 10 more minutes. 
  • Serve & Enjoy
